October 2019

December 12, 2019 by Janice Stradford

We returned to Guatemala in September and had a very busy month there checking in on Project Quetzal’s 8 projects. The 2 new teachers (Amalia and Rosario) who started in July (after attending the summer training) are both doing a fantastic job. Amalia’s classroom is at the local primary school and Rosario’s class is in her home.

All of the preschool teachers attend 2 weeklong trainings a year. The curriculum is play-centered with participative activities linked to the daily educational outcomes and themes in children’s books. The classrooms are filled with natural and recycled materials along with books and educational materials.

The big, exciting news is that we hired 4 new preschool teachers who will start in January when the school year begins.
