June 2019

December 3, 2019 by Janice Stradford

We checked in on our six projects during our last visit in May/June, meeting with the teachers and visiting the classrooms. We continue to be amazed at the quality of the teaching and the level of creativity in all of the educational activities. In the after-school tutorial programs, the children are evaluated each grading period to see how they are progressing. If it is determined that any students have sufficiently caught up, other students in need of help are placed n the tutorial.
We interviewed 2 new prospective teachers. They have both graduated from high school with an emphasis on education and who have had experience in early childhood classrooms. They did all the research in their villages and talked to community members. They were eager to begin right away (and not wait until school started in January), but they needed to spend time observing other preschools and to attend a week long training. So they will open their classroom doors on July 8th, 2019!
